“Well, alright then. I was thinking about helping you out, but if you don’t regret it, never mind,” Gloria said, turning to leave the music room.

Elliot suddenly blurted out, “Mom, I really messed up. I totally misjudged Alicia. Could you maybe help me talk to her?”

Gloria glanced at her son and laughed. “Wow, getting you to admit you were wrong is no small feat. You really should watch your mouth and actions from now on. I like Alicia a lot too.

“If you could ever, well, let’s hold off on that for now. Today, I’ll try to get Alicia to help out in the music room so you can apologize to her properly.”

“Alright, I get it,” Elliot nodded awkwardly. “Well, I’m gonna go out and pick up a few things.”

Gloria saw her son’s embarrassed look and just had to laugh.

That afternoon, Alicia had music class.

As soon as Gloria walked into the classroom, she spotted Alicia sitting at her desk, chatting with another girl. Alicia was explaining something in her textbook, and the girl kept nodding, listening intently. They seemed deep in discussion over the textbook.

Gloria smiled to herself. The more she saw Alicia, the more she liked her.

She walked up to the front of the class and began scanning the room for her son. Usually, Elliot sat with Alicia, but now he was nowhere to be seen.

The students, meanwhile, were totally focused, soaking up everything she said.

After class, Alicia was packing up her things when Gloria walked over with a warm smile. “Hey, Alicia, could you help me with something really quick?”

Alicia looked at Gloria, waiting to hear what she needed.

Gloria said, “My harp’s out of tune again. Could you help me fix it?”

Alicia nodded. “Sure, let’s go now.”

The two of them gathered their things and headed to the music room.

On the way, Gloria quietly sent Elliot a message. [Where are you? You skipped class. I’m taking Alicia to the music room. Get back here ASAP. Don’t miss this chance.]

After sending the message, Gloria started to worry. Elliot might be far from the music room. Alicia was quick at tuning instruments, and if she finished and left before Elliot showed up, he’d miss the chance to apologize.

So, she turned to Alicia and said, “Hey, why don’t we pick up a few things first?”

So Alicia ended up tagging along with Gloria to the school’s convenience store, where they wandered around for quite a while. Gloria really did need to buy some stuff, so she took her time, carefully picking out what she needed.

She grabbed some daily essentials and a few snacks, then took her sweet time checking out.

Noticing that Gloria had a lot to carry, Alicia grabbed one of the bags to help her. Gloria couldn’t help but like her even more.
